EASY No-Cook DIY Play Dough Recipe

Making your own play dough is SO much fun! But when you have to use to stove to cook it, it just complicates things.

Good news! This play dough receipe is a NO cook play dough recipe! It takes just minutes to make.

Let’s get started with my no cook play dough recipe.


Play Dough Ingredients

I love it when you have an instant activity at home to do with your kids!

Sometimes you just need that extra time to drink your coffee in the morning, so having something simple to make in just a few minutes is a win!

To make no-cook play dough you need

  • flour
  • food coloring
  • salt
  • cream of tartar
  • vegetable oil
  • boiling water
  • spoons and bowls

You can get cream of tartar at your local grocery store. It’ll be in the section where the spices and seasonings would be.

You DO need cream of tartar for this recipe. If you don’t use it, it’ll be too sticky.


No-Cook Play Dough Recipe

#1: Combine the following ingredients in a bowl

  • 1 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

#2: Boil water and add 1 cup boiling water to the bowl with the rest of the ingredients.

#3: Add a few drops of food coloring in the mix to create the colors you want! We made the colors of the rainbow so we did this process a few times.

#4: Mix the ingredients in the bowl with a spoon. Once it cools down, you’ll knead the dough with your hands.

#5: Time to play! Use play dough toys or just play with the dough.
