Step by Step Directions

Here are the directions on how to make Halloween cup lanterns!

#1: Paint the cups using acrylic paint. You only need to cover the cup in 1 layer of paint. You don’t want it too thick so you can see the light shine through.

#2: Let it dry, this will take about 10-15 minutes for them to completely dry.

#3: Add your details!

To make the ghost, we painted on eyes and a mouth.

For the mummy, glue on googly eyes and wrap streamer around the cup. You can use tape to secure the streamer. I did cut the streamer in half so the pieces looked thinner.

The pumpkin needs eyes, a nose and a mouth painted on!

To create the monster, we painted it purple and glued on a bunch of different sized googly eyes. You can either paint in a squiggly line for the mouth or draw it in with a Sharpie.

Lastly, for the Frankenstein, paint the top of the cup black for the hair and the bottom part green for his face. Glue on googly eyes and make some details for his face!

#4: Stick a flamless tea light underneath the cup and place it inside or outside to display!
