#1: Fingerprint Shamrock Craft

This simple shamrock craft for preschoolers will be one you keep!

Fingerprint crafts are always so fun and easy for the kids to do. I love seeing their little prints on the paper.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • black paper
  • paint
  • shamrock shape
  • masking tape
  • paint tray

B. Set-up

Use masking tape to attach the shamrock shape to black paper! Then, add paint to a paint tray.

C. Activity

Have the kids make prints ALL around the shape on the paper! They will also need to make prints around the shamrock shape for it to appear.

Once they are done, use clean hands to peel off the shamrock shape. The kids will love seeing the shamrock appear!


#2: Puffy Paint Shamrocks

Make your own puffy paint with just a few simple steps and ingredients.

This shamrock craft for preschoolers is adorable! I love how fluffy the outcome is.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • foam shaving cream
  • glue
  • food coloring
  • paintbrush
  • sprinkles

B. Set-up

In a bowl, mix equal parts foam shaving cream, glue, and a few drops of green food coloring!

If you want the paint extra fluffy, add some more shaving cream.

C. Activity

Scoop the paint out using a spoon and put some on the shamrocks. Then, have the kids use a paintbrush to spread the paint all over.

Once the paint is covering the shamrock, add some sprinkles on top!

Put the craft in a safe place over night and let it dry. It will dry puffy, but it will flatten a bit. It feels really cool when it is dry. Just don’t press down on it, or it’ll mess up the art.

They will create different sizes of ripped paper to fill the whole shamrock in. Then, they will use a gluestick to add the pieces on!

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

Have the kids dip the sponges into the paint and make prints around the shamrock shapes! Make sure they get close to the shamrocks to see the whole shape show up.

Once they are done, peel off the shamrocks to show them what it looks like!

#5: Sponge Printed Shamrock Craft

Make shamrocks out of sponges! This is a fun and easy craft that turns out really pretty.

This shamrock craft for preschoolers is a must-try! I love it combines rainbows and shamrocks.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • sponges
  • paint
  • Sharpie

B. Set-up

Draw a heart shape on a sponge and cut it out. We made a few of these because we wanted to do a few different colors.

C. Activity

Paint the sponge green, or even use rainbow colors!

To make a shamrock, you’ll start making the center print first. Then, you’ll do both sides. The bottom of the sponge should line up with the bottom of the print from the ones you create.

Use the bottom of the heart sponge to make the bottom of each shamrock by making a line.

Use black paper for green and use white paper for the rainbow colors!

The kids will dip a Q-tip end into the paint to create a shamrock or rainbow.

They can make the shamrock completely green or different colors.

#7: Marbled Shamrocks

This shamrock craft for preschoolers has such a fun process!

Marbling shamrocks is a fun and simple setup! The kids will love how they turn out.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

B. Set-up

On cardstock, create a shamrock shape and cut it out. On an art tray, spray some foam shaving cream and drop in a few drops of food coloring. Use a toothpick to spread the food coloring throughout the shaving cream.

C. Activity

Place the shamrock into the shaving cream mixture and gently press down to make sure the entire shape gets the mixture on it. Pull it up and place it on an art tray!

Use a paintbrush to brush off the extra shaving cream to reveal the colors underneath! Let them dry on the tray.

#8: Color by Code

This is a little bit of a different rainbow craft for kids, but I wanted to add it in.

Make sure your child understands how to read the key at the top of the page. Then, they will color each number in the picture based on what the key says.

These are my kid’s favorite out of all the printables I create. They love revealing the St. Patrick’s Day pictures at the end.

Salt-painted shamrocks are perfect to make as a St. Patrick’s Day craft.

The colors turn out amazing each time. It’s also so cool to watch the water flow through the salt.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

B. Set-up

With a pencil, draw a bunch of shamrocks on cardboard or paper. Then, outline your drawings with glue and dump salt ALL over them. Make sure to do this on an art tray so it’s easy to dump the excess it’s the trash.

You can do this craft right away, or you can let it dry before starting to paint!

C. Activity

Use watercolors to paint the salt! You can stick with one color, or you can try different colors. No matter how you do it, it will turn out beautiful.


#10: Pastel Shamrocks

Use oil pastels to outline the shamrock shape! Create liens around the entire shape.

Once it is all done, slowly peel up the shape to check out your shamrock!

Have the kids either create a handprint inside each part of the shamrock or have them make fingerprints.

My kid’s hands are just a little too big now to fit inside the shamrock, so we had to do fingerprints.

#12: Shamrock Suncatchers

Have you ever made your own suncatchers? Once you make suncatchers, you’ll want to repeat this craft every holiday.

This shamrock craft is fun and easy for the kids to make! It’s such a pretty decoration in your house or in the classroom.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

B. Set-up

Cut a piece of contact paper off the roll and make a shamrock shape using a sharpie. You can use my free shamrock printable for the shape.

Then make an outline of the shape by tracing the shape a 1/2″ inside. Poke a hole with a pencil on the inside of the shape and cut it out to make the outline.

C. Activity

The kids will cover the shamrock shapes you make with tissue paper squares!

We used a mix and light green tissue paper squares. We also made a rainbow one too!

Then, fold the piece of contact paper over to seal the shamrock. Or, you can just cut another piece of contact paper off and place it on top of your shamrock.

Cut the shape and tape to the window! Kids can write their name on the shamrock on the cardstock paper part!


#13: St. Patrick’s Day Hats

Make your Patrick’s Day hats with my free printable.

How to do this activity

B. Set-up

Print off the hats that you want to use. Also, make sure to print off the band for the back of the hat.

C. Activity

Have the kids color and decorate their hats however they would like to! They can use markers, crayons, or even stickers and glitter glue!

Once they are done, staple the band to the front of the hat on both sides. The kids will love this for St. Patrick’s Day!


#14: Decorate a Shamrock

Here’s a simple, fun shamrock craft for preschoolers or even toddlers!

You just dump the supplies in the tray, and the kids pick what they want to use to decorate the shamrocks!

C. Activity

Let your little ones pick what they want to add to their shamrocks! They can make fun designs, or they can even work on creating patterns!


#15: Handprint Rainbow

This may be the cutest rainbow craft for kids that we have done yet!

I LOVE handprint crafts. This time, I used both my daughter’s and my son’s handprints!

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • cardboard/larger paper
  • washable paint
  • paintbrush
  • cardstock paper
  • scissors
  • glue
  • paper
  • tissue paper

B. Set-up

Paint your child’s hand red and have them make prints on a piece of white paper. Press down their hand to show the entire hand on the print.

Repeat this process for each color of the rainbow.

C. Activity

Once the handprints dry, the kids can glue them in the order of the rainbow on the cardboard/paper.

Draw a pot of gold using black paper. Then, have the kids scrunch up some yellow tissue paper to make the “gold” for the pot!

Add some fun St. Patrick’s Day stickers if you’d like!
