Check out all the details below to see how to do this fun fizzy pumpkin experiment!
Supplies you need
Here are the supplies you need to do the fizzy pumpkin experiment!
- pumpkin (white or orange) I did get smaller sized pumpkins, you can do this though with any size! it’s just easier for the liquid to come out of the top if it’s a smaller pumpkin.
- food coloring
- baking soda
- viengar
- dish soap (optional)
I love you can do this experiment with things you have right at home!
Step by Step Directions
1. Open up the top of the pumpkin and take out all of the pumpkins guts. Try to clean it out as much as possible!
2. Carve your pumpkin! Make some fun faces on each pumpkin to see differences with the experiment.
3. In a cup, add drops of food coloring. I added a bunch! Then, add 3/4 cup of baking soda on top of food coloring. Place this cup inside the pumpkin.
4. Dump 1 cup of vinegar in and see the reaction! You can always add more baking soda, food coloring and vinegar. This can be done again and again!
5. To make it extra fizzy you can add a dash of Dawn dish soap. See the differences with and without the soap.
