#2: Spiderweb Popsicle Sticks

This is one of my favorite spider crafts for kindergarten that we have done.

I love the different colors of spider webs, and the kids enjoyed using the thread to create them.

B. Set-up

Have the kids paint the popsicle sticks using acrylic paint. You can make them a whole bunch of different colors or stick with one. You need 4 popsicle sticks for each web that you want to make.

Wait for them to dry; this will take about 30 minutes to dry completely.

Once they are dry, the adult will hot glue them together. First, make a plus sign with the sticks, then glue the other two in the shape of an X behind the plus sign.

C. Activity

The kids will take the colored thread and wrap them around the spider web. Have them start at the bottom of the sticks by wrapping them around each stick, then make their way up towards the top.

Once they have wrapped the yarn around the sticks, grab a small piece of tape and tape the end to the back of one of the sticks. This will hold the yarn in place!

If you want to add toy spiders onto the popsicle sticks, the adult can hot glue them on.

#3: Paper Spiders

There’s something so easy about regular old paper crafts. Sometimes you just need something easy that takes a few supplies.

This spider craft for kindergarten is perfect for them to make.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • colored paper
  • glue stick
  • scissors
  • googly eyes
  • marker

B. Set-up

Create the pieces of the spider for your kids. To create the body, you’ll draw an oval shape. For the legs, you’ll make two rectangle shapes that are connected.

Lastly, you’ll need to cut out a long rectangle shape for the spider’s web.

C. Activity

To work on some cutting skills, your kids can cut out all the pieces you draw! Of course, you can also do this step for them if you’d like.

Have the kids create each spider by gluing the legs to the body with a glue stick.

Then, they will glue the web to the back of the spider’s body. Lastly, add on googly eyes and a mouth using a marker!

#4: Noodle Spider Craft

Make a spider craft out of noodles for a fun and different sensory craft for kids!

I love the prints that sponges make. It’s the perfect supply to make a spider craft.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • sponges
  • acrylic paint
  • spiral pasta noodles
  • plastic bags
  • parchment paper
  • art tray
  • cardboard or card stock paper
  • googly eyes
  • glue

B. Set-up

Draw a circle shape on a sponge and cut it out. We created a few so we could make different colored spiders.

You can either paint the pasta noodles by hand or place them inside a ziplock bag with some acrylic paint and shake it up. Then, dump out the pasta on parchment paper to let it dry.

C. Activity

Make prints on cardboard or card stock paper for the spider’s body.

When the pasta noodles are dry, you can use school glue to glue them onto paper or cardboard. Glue on googly eyes and make a face on each spider.

This is such a fun sensory craft for kids!

#5: Wine Cork Spiders

Save those wine corks! This spider craft for kindergarten is adorable and super easy to do.

I love being able to reuse materials that we have laying around the house. The wine corks make the perfect shape for a spider.

How to do this activity

A. Materials you need

  • wine corks
  • acrylic paint
  • googly eyes
  • glue
  • marker
  • paper

B. Set-up

Have the kids dip the cork in black paint and make prints on the paper. They can make these prints all over the paper. We created 10 spiders.

C. Activity

Once the kids are done making the prints, have them draw lines coming from the top of the paper to the spider. They can make different types of lines, or they can make the same ones.

This is a great and fun way to get some writing work in!

Then, they will create 8 legs for each spider and glue on googly eyes!

#6: Spider Web Plate

This cute spider craft for kindergarten is perfect for Halloween time or for a kiddo who loves spiders (like my son).

Tape resist art is such a fun process for kids. It’s super simple to set up too.

B. Set-up

Place your masking tape in the shape of a spider web (like you see in the picture). Then, have the kids use acrylic paint to paint the plate. Since we did this during Halloween time, I used orange, purple, black, and green.

Paint your bottle caps black and wait for them to dry.

C. Activity

Peel off the tape once the paint is dry (do this nice and slow to keep it from ripping).

You can put googly eyes on the spider or leave them off. Make legs for your spider using pipe cleaners. Cut smaller pieces of pipe cleaner and bend them to make the feet. You’ll need to hot glue the pipe cleaners on the bottle caps.

Glue the spiders on using hot glue, or leave them off so the kids can play with them on the web!

#7 Spider Pumpkins

I have the cutest spider pumpkin crafts for you! I actually have two ideas for you in this one.

You can turn small pumpkins into spiders or you can create fingerprint spiders on a white or orange pumpkin.

A. Materials you need

B. Set-up

Add some paint to a paint tray and grab your pumpkins!

If you are making spider pumpkins, paint your pumpkins the colors you want and wait for them to dry. We had to do two coats on these pumpkins to cover up the entire pumpkin.

C. Activity

To make the fingerprint spiders, have the kids dip their fingers into the paint and make prints all over the pumpkin.

Once they have the number of spiders they want, have them use an acrylic paint marker or black Sharpie to make the spiders legs. Place them outside!

If you are making spider pumpkins, once the paint is dry, cut pipe cleaners in half and bend them at the middle and bottom to look like spider’s legs.

Hot glue four pipe cleaners to each side of the pumpkin. Then, glue googly eyes in the front!

B. Set-up

On cardstock paper, draw the spiderweb using a pencil. Then, outline your drawings in school glue.

C. Activity

Have the kids sprinkle salt on top of the glue. There should be a TON of salt on the paper. They should remove the excess into the trash.

You can choose to do this activity right away or wait till the salt dries. I like doing it both ways, but if you decide to wait, I think the colors turn out better.

They will use watercolors to paint the spiderweb! They can use Halloween colors or whatever colors they want.

Let it dry and see how beautiful it turns out! This is such a great spider craft for kids.

#9: Spider Suckers

C. Activity

Lay 4 pipe cleaners down next to each other and place the lollipop about 1/3 of the way in on the pipe cleaners.

Grab the longer side of the pipe cleaners and wrap it around on top of the lollipops. Then, wrap the other side around so it looks like they are crossing over each other.

Wrap the longer side over again. Then, separate the 4 pipe cleaners, so they look like spider legs.

Bend each pipe cleaner at the bottom to look like an L shape.

Then, if you have sticky googly eyes, you can have the kids peel off the back and stick them on the body of the spider, or you can hot glue them!

Grab your colored yarn and start threading it through the container. You’ll want to start on one side and pull it through another hole on the opposite end. Then, tape it down at the bottom of the container, cut the yarn, and tape it again on the other side.

You’ll do this process until there are a bunch of pieces of yarn, so it looks like a web; like you see above.

Slowly place your objects inside the bin. If you check out my counting cards, you’ll see the objects you need for this. We got most of our Halloween toys at Target in the Halloween section.

Have the kids use tweezers or their hands to grab the objects they need for each counting card. When they pull specific objects out, they will tell you what number it is!

Once they pick out all the items for one card, switch in the new ones!
